Bob Massey

Bob Massey

Since moving to our Town in the summer of 1986, Bob Massey has represented the residents of Chetwood Ward at the Town Council since 1988, Chetwood & Collingwood Ward of South Woodham Ferrers at Chelmsford City Council since 2011, and the whole town at Essex County Council since 2017.

Bob served as Cabinet Member for Parks, Green Spaces and Crematoria between 2015 and 2019 and, during that period, was responsible for improving sports and leisure facilities at Saltcoats and Compass Gardens.

He describes the last four years since the Lib-Dems took control of the City Council as ‘immensely frustrating’ and is optimistic that a return to a Conservative adninistration would restore fiscal stability, and local councillors influence would encourage more investment in our Town.

He served as Mayor of Chelmsford from 2019-20 and South Woodham Ferrers Town Mayor from 2020-21.

In October 2022, following the untimely passing of John Galley – the Mayor of Chelmsford – Bob was asked to serve as Deputy Mayor until May ’23.

He and his wife delivered meals and prescriptions to vulnerable residents during the various covid lockdowns, and he is an enthusiastic volunteer at the Town’s Park Run on Saturday mornings.

Bob works hard to keep residents informed, he’s often to be seen around Town, or online. Many residents contact him online to assist with their problems.

Bob was re-elected to represent the residents of Chetwood & Collingwood Ward at Chelmsford City Council in the May 2023 Local Elections.
