Conservative Councillor for Writtle Ward

Writtle - Tim Roper

Tim is married, with three daughters, and has lived in Writtle for the past 24 years having spent his early life in Ingatestone, then part of Chelmsford Rural District Council.   Education at Brentwood School was followed by National Service in the Royal Army Service Corps.

Retired, he spent most of his working life in the agricultural industry starting in the Corn & Agricultural Merchanting business of Hasler & Co. Ltd. (later absorbed into RHM Ltd.) and, for the last 24 years, as Senior Group Secretary for the Chelmsford,  Maldon & Southminster Branches of the National Farmers’ Union.   This work brought him into contact with a number of departments in local government.

He has been a member of the Cabinet on Chelmsford City Council since 2007 and previously served as Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee.

He is a Rotarian, member of the Writtle Society and the Friends of Hylands House.  Having lived and worked in the area for most of his life, Tim believes he can use his experience, local knowledge and commonsense for the benefit of the Writtle community.

You can contact Tim by email here.
