Conservative Councillor for South Woodham Ferrers – Chetwood & Collingwood Ward
Bob Massey has lived in the Chetwood Ward of South Woodham Ferrers since 1986; for more than twenty of those years he has represented the residents of Chetwood Ward on South Woodham Ferrers Town Council.
Bob states that his main reason for standing for Chelmsford City Council was that he felt frustrated that the powers of the Town Council were too limited, and that as a Conservative City Councillor he could better influence matters that affect the residents he represents.
He has supported many South Woodham Ferrers residents to address the problems they’ve been facing – he’s often found online, and is an active member of the South Woodham Ferrers FaceBook community.
Residents often contact Bob through the FaceBook page to raise their concerns and issues.
He now serves on the City Council’s Development Policy Committee and is the Cabinet Member for Parks.
He’s an IT Security Consultant, recently widowed, with two grown up kids who have ‘flown the nest’.
He says that helping residents to resolve their problems is the most rewarding part of being a local councillor, even if it adds time to his shopping trips.
Having been re-elected to both Town and City Councils in May 2015, Bob intends to provide the Town’s residents the best ‘joined up’ service he can, by representing their needs at both Councils, and will be standing for election to Essex County Council in May 2016 to further improve his representation of residents.
