Conservative Councillor for Rettendon & Runwell
Is a dedicated family man, married with 2 sons and grandchildren. He has lived in Rettendon for 25 years and in Essex for almost 50 years.
In 2003 Ray was elected to Chelmsford Borough Council and has been extensively involved with Council affairs since that time. He has been the Chairman of Planning, Chairman of Audit and Vice Chair of Scrutiny Committees and served on the Development Policy Committee and he has been the Cabinet member for Leisure and Culture since 2008. As an elected member he therefore has unparalleled experience of Chelmsford Borough Council at the most senior levels.
He has been a Governor of Rettendon Primary School for over 12 years and Chairman of the Governing Body at the school for the past 9 years.
His main career was in the Ministry of Defence in London. He left Whitehall in 1996 under early retirement arrangements, having served for 35 years in a variety of key senior posts in the Defence Ministry. In conjunction with his sons he has well-established businesses in the area.
Ray is a vigorous pursuer of change and improvement in his local community but still finds time to enjoy reading walking and, above all, time with his family.
