Conservative Councillor for Little Baddow, Danbury & Sandon
A retired Chief Superintendent who completed 36 years with Essex Police Ian now devotes his time serving the local community and working for various charities. For over 16 years, together with his wife Carol, he has been involved with two charities providing holidays and support to underprivileged children from London and those affected by the Chernobyl disaster. He has been a long-standing volunteer and supporter of Farleigh Hospice and until recently, a Trustee of the Chelmsford Volunteer Centre, which sadly has been forced to close through lack of funding.
Ian has served 16 years as a Parish Councillor for Sandon and is presently Chairman. He has represented Little Baddow, Danbury and Sandon Ward as a Borough Councillor for twelve years during which time he has served on a variety of Committees; Chaired the Planning Committee for eight years and in 2004/5 was elected Mayor of Chelmsford.
Having resided in the Ward for over 24 years, Ian is fiercely protective of the areas he represents, and like other residents is determined to prevent needless and unwanted overdevelopment. He is adamant as an elected Councillor it is his duty to act as the voice of the community and ensure that it is their views, not his, that are fully considered.
Any spare time is taken up with family commitments, grandchildren and (wife permitting) sailing, skiing and trips to the gym!
