Conservative Councillor for Chelmer Village and Beaulieu Park

Duncan Lumley

Duncan Lumley has lived in the Chelmsford Borough area all his life, having been born in St John’s Hospital. He is semi-retired after working over thirty 30 years as a bank official and now works in a local secondary school.

Duncan is married and has two daughters.   He was first elected to Chelmsford Borough Council in 1987 and has also been a member of Springfield Parish Council since 1995. Duncan had the privilege of being the Mayor of Chelmsford for the year 2005/06

He has a strong commitment to local community affairs and is currently on the governing body of a secondary school. Duncan is also Treasurer of Springfield Parish Council Afternoon Clubs, a member of the Commissioning Body for Supporting People, involved with several local charities and Chairman of the local carpet bowls club.

Duncan has been involved in local politics for many years and is currently Cabinet Member for Strategic Housing with the Borough Council. He has a strong dislike of politicians who promise all and fail to deliver. He makes only one promise and that is to work hard for all residents, which he believes is best achieved by consultation and face to face contact.

His interests are local affairs, all forms of sport, reading and travel.
