Philip has lived locally for over ten years, is married with two young children. As well as being a councillor he works in Chelmsford and has a City finance background.

In May 2003, Philip was elected as councillor for the newly constituted ward of Boreham and The Leighs and was re-elected in 2007 and has served as your councillor for eight years.  He currently sits on the Planning Committee, the Licensing & Regulatory Committee and the Standards Committee and, until 2006 was the Cabinet Member for Economic Development.  He enjoys running, walking, cycling and sailing, fishing and other country pursuits.  He spent several years in the Territorial Army in London where he developed skills in communications.  He continues this interest in his role today, trying to get high speed broadband to isolated communities in the county.

He sits on a number of charitable trusts and is passionate about preserving and promoting the community spirit of the area.
